In July 2023, artics hosted a remarkable event called the "Japanese-Style Masquerade Ball" at the historic venue, Kamihichi-ken Theater in Kyoto. Get ready to experience the enchanting world of this modern-day masquerade ball through the eyes of artics' PR Coordinator, Iide. Let's embark on this captivating adventure together!
As you enter the venue, you're handed a fox mask, in line with the event's theme, which immediately fills you with a sense of festivity!
Near the entrance, a grand banner catches your eye, bearing the title "Renaissance Revived." Below it, an explanation of artics' mission unfolds: to revolutionize the distribution structure of art and entertainment, steering toward a "21st-century Renaissance."
By using artics, individuals can explore what they genuinely love and connect with works that resonate with them. Simultaneously, artists can find the right audience for their creations, paving the way for a sustainable artistic career—a vision of the 21st-century Renaissance.
This is a significant step toward realizing a 21st-century Renaissance. Witnessing this vision firsthand, I couldn't help but share in the excitement!
As you progress further into the event, you encounter elegantly dressed guests who are busy taking photographs.
The event has drawn creative individuals from across Asia who express themselves through art, music, and film.
Their unique personalities and talents transform the entire venue into an atmosphere of refinement and artistry.
Since it's the "Free Talk" time, I decided to strike up conversations with several attendees!
Masquerade 4 This individual turned out to be a fashion designer who provides costumes for musicals and more! Impressive, isn't it?
Masquerade 5 This painter has a distinctive style of using unique "colors" to create on-the-spot portraits of people he meets. I even had the privilege of having him paint my portrait (see the picture below)!
Sketch by guest artist It's fascinating to learn where these wonderful artists and musicians draw their inspiration from.
In the artics app, you can share the story of "how" and "why" you discovered a particular artwork with your friends. Experiencing the joy of following the context of "liking" in real life was truly remarkable.
As the event reached its midpoint, the CEO of artics took the stage to address the attendees.
Hearing his impassioned thoughts about artics and their commitment to artists and creators further ignited my excitement. I definitely encourage you to watch the event highlights here.
As the event drew to a close, the final activity was a "liking" themed matchmaking game. Participants wrote down their favorite artwork on a piece of paper, which was then shuffled and redistributed. The task was to find the person who liked the artwork you wrote.
My choice was my all-time favorite from middle school, "Fast & Furious."
There were so many participants that I didn't expect anyone to pick my artwork, but to my surprise, someone did!
Masquerade 9 It turns out; she recognized my t-shirt featuring the movie's logo. We started a conversation about "Fast & Furious" and, in return, I introduced her to "Selling Sunset," a reality show I enjoy.
Conversations about what we love are always enjoyable, and recommendations from others often inspire us to explore new content.
The event allowed us to experience the essence of artics, and it was indeed a delightful experience.
